Patrick County Public Schools held its annual spelling bee January 26 at Patrick County High School. The winner was Olivia Cassell, an eighth grader at Patrick County High School. The winning word was “inadvertent.” Cassell will represent Patrick County in the regional spelling bee to be held at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts in Winston-Salem, N.C. on March 26. In second place was Sydney Hopkins, a fourth grader at Woolwine Elementary School. Placing third was Journey Collins, a fifth grader at Blue Ridge Elementary School.
