Surry Community College is offering several upcoming job training classes in the automotive services industry throughout the summer on the Dobson, N.C., campus.
SCC will offer Collision Repair and Refinishing (auto body) classes this summer. The Collision Repair and Refinishing classes prepare individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, reconstruct, and finish automobile bodies, fenders, and external features. Classes will run May 23 through August 8 in Room 102 of Building B at Surry Community College, 630 S. Main Street, Dobson.
Interested parties can enroll in one of two class offerings—each Monday and Tuesday from 6 to 10 p.m. or each Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration and pre-payment of $183 are required. Call (336) 386-3398 for more information.
An Auto Safety Inspection—Initial Certification and Renewal class will be offered July 18-19 from 6 to 10 p.m. This eight-hour course prepares auto technicians and service personnel as safety and emission inspectors for motor vehicles.
Students will learn regulations, test inspection procedures, and how to properly inspect a vehicle in order to successfully pass qualification exams for certification as a safety and emissions inspector at a licensed inspection station.

An Auto North Carolina On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) II Emissions Inspection—Initial Certification and Renewal class will be held August 1 and 2 from 6 to 10 p.m. This class is designed to prepare auto technicians and service personnel as OBD emission inspectors for motor vehicles.
Course topics include regulations and test inspection procedures required by the North Carolina DMV. Upon completion, a student should understand the rules, regulations, and procedures for OBD emission inspections, be able to inspect a vehicle properly, and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam.
