Syrus “Tony” Thornton Williams Jr., age 74, of Stuart, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart.
He was born in Pocahontas, Va., on May 1, 1942 and was a son of the late Syrus Thornton Williams Sr. and Ocie Lena Joyce Williams. He was also was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Munsey.
He had served in the United State Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Ann “Susie” Williams of the home; one son, Anthony Williams of Missouri; one daughter, Angie Rakes of Stuart; one granddaughter; one brother, James Williams of Christiansburg; three sisters, Barbara Tyree of Ohio, Dorothy Roland of West Virginia, and Eleanor Stevens of Giles County; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Mickey Rogers officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard.
