Cassandra Elizabeth Tatum of Stuart, and Kevin Samuel Carter of Lexington SC, were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
The wedding took place at the Moore’s Springs Manor in Westfield N.C., with Moore’s Wall of Hanging Rock as the background.
The Rev. Brett Marlowe, pastor of the groom, of Green Hill Baptist Church in West Columbia, S.C. officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Wesley and Sharon Tatum, and the granddaughter of Ruby Clark, and the late Kennon Clark, and David and Sally Tatum, all of Stuart.
The groom is the son of Angie Carter and the late Richard Crapps of Lexington S.C., and the grandson of Wayne and Peggy Whitaker of Lexington S.C., and Coy and Mickey Carter of West Columbia S.C.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore an antique ivory sleeveless fit and flare gown of lace and English net in a floral pattern blooms across the illusion neckline and overlay. Her veil was of ivory tulle with beaded accents that was designed and hand sewn by the bride. She carried a bouquet of purple stock, pink roses, white mums, purple filler and seeded eucalyptus, which was crafted by Suzanne Wilson at Marilyn’s Florist in Stuart.
Jessica Clark of Columbus Ohio, best friend since childhood, was Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Katie Fary of Charleston S.C., Madi Heath, of Boone N.C., Maggie Huff of Rochester N.Y., and Heather Stack of Walkertown N.C. The bridesmaids wore floor length chiffon dresses in plum with lace cap sleeves and a dramatic keyhole back. The bridesmaids carried bouquets similar to that of the bride.
Chris Sion, best friend of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Nate Bowen, Patrick Cain, Brandon Steele and Graham Varn, all of SC, and Cameron Tatum of Roanoke, brother of the bride. The groom and groomsmen all wore dark gray tuxedoes with plum neck/bow ties.
Little Harper DeHart, daughter of Justin and Ali DeHart of Stuart, was the flower girl.
Patrick Tatum, uncle of the bride, served as the ring bearer.
The wedding ceremony was directed by Jennifer Cox of Stuart, dear family friend.
Mike Gravely, with Outdoor Entertainment of Stuart provided the music for both the wedding ceremony and the reception. The reception was held in the Pavilion at the venue. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and the five-layered cake were served at the reception by Artist’s Way Creations of Danbury N.C.
The day was beautifully captured by Adele Lee Photography of Pilot Mountain N.C., and Humming Meadow Productions videography of Greenville S.C. The wedding arbor and other woodwork used in the decor was crafted by the bride’s father from walnut that the bride’s late grandfather, David Tatum, had cut from the family’s property many years ago.
The couple honeymooned in Miami, Fla. with a cruise to islands in the Bahamas. They will be residing in Charleston, S.C.
The bride is a 2012 graduate of Patrick County High School, a 2015 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, and will graduate in May 2019 with her doctorate in Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston S.C.
The groom is a 2010 graduate from Lexington High School in Lexington S.C., a 2015 graduate of the University of South Carolina-Aiken, and a 2018 graduate from the College of Charleston’s MBA program. He is employed by Omatic Software in Charleston S.C.
The couple was honored on several occasions by family and friends. Wedding showers were hosted at the bride’s home by friends of her mother on March 16th, 2018 at the bride’s church, New Hope UMC, by Sandra Sanders, aunt of the bride, and by Jessica Clark, maid of honor, on July 14, 2018; and at The Country Club of Lexington by the groom’s family and friends, on August 18, 2018.
A bridal brunch was hosted at the bride’s grandmother’s home by her aunt and wedding director in honor of the bride and her bridesmaids.
