The family of Shane Rogers would like to thank all that helped with the Shane Rogers Memorial Scholarship Ride on October 22. The ride started at Roberts Lighthouse and Grill and ended at the Smith River Wildlife Building.
This ride is dedicated to the memory of Daniel Shane Rogers who passed away in a logging accident on August 28, 2013. Although the turnout was small we raised over $3,700. This money will go to a student who is enrolled in the agriculture department at Patrick County High School. Each year a scholarship is given in Shane Rogers’ name enabling a student to receive a funds to help out with tuition costs for college.
We would like to thank all the people and businesses throughout our community for helping us out: Wood’s Cold Storage for the help with the chain saw that was raffled off. Country Convenience and C&N Meats helped with supplies and food. To the business including Sheppard’s Body Repair, the Wilderness Sawmill, Dillon Logging, Bowling Logging, and Martin Pallet and Wedges and employees, all of you helped so much with our raffle ticket sales.
Also a big thank you to businesses that donated door prizes: R&J Auto Repair, Morrison Garage, and several others, too many to mention. A special thank you to the board of the Smith River Wildlife Building for letting us hold our cookout there.
We could not have done this without the help we had and greatly appreciate all that brought raffle tickets and donated money to help raise the money needed for the scholarship to continue in Shane’s name. I could not list all that helped but we greatly appreciated all you have done for us as well.
Thank you all for your continued help with the Shane Rogers Memorial Ride.
