The Danbury Songwriters will welcome the Stokes County Historical Society and The New Danbury Cornet Band to The Arts Place on Thursday, July 4 at 7 p.m. to celebrate the nation’s birth.
The evening begins with a presentation by the Stokes County Historical Society exploring the rich history of our county with beautiful photography, detailed historical research, and interesting stories of Stokes County’s beautiful people and places.
The New Danbury Cornet Band will entertain with patriotic tunes played on the 1880s horns of the original Danbury Cornet Band, discovered in the attic of the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department. The instruments were restored through funding from the Historical Society. Steve Shelton will share his research on the horns and their popularity in the mid to late 1800s.
This free celebration begins at 7 p.m. at The Arts Place, 502 Main Street, Danbury, N.C. Concessions will be available. Festivities will end before dark so guests can make it to local fireworks displays to round out the night.
