The Hutchens will headline the Patrick County Music Association’s (PCMA’s) show on Saturday, Oct. 26, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Crooked Road, Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail.
The event will be held at the Patrick County High School (PCHS) Auditorium. Doors open at 5 p.m., with performances starting at 6 p.m.
In addition to The Hutchens, The Country Boys and Olivia Jo will also perform. The show will kick off with Charlie’s Corner, featuring Charlie Chaney and his music students.
PCMA President Denny Alley said The Hutchens, a group composed of three brothers—Barry, Bryan, and Bill Hutchens—have been a fixture in the local music scene. The trio was signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut album, “Knock, Knock,” in 1995. The title track peaked at No. 56 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
“Barry Hutchens, he’s one of the best singers in the county. They play a little bit of everything,” Alley said.
Alley expects a good turnout, noting that admission is free. “We’ve got 650 seats, and we’ve got room for it. It’s a free show, no money for admission,” he added.
Looking ahead, Alley said the PCMA’s December show will also be free, while the November Veteran Appreciation Show, sponsored by the Patrick County Food Bank Board, will require $5 admission and two canned goods.
The September Songwriter’s Circle Series II Guys & Gals show filled the 145 seats at the Star Theatre, indicating strong community interest in local music events.
Concessions will be available for purchase from the Patrick County Shooting Education Team, with proceeds supporting children’s firearm safety education.
