Thomas Glen Newman, 86, passed away on 12th June 2021 at his new home in Seaford, Virginia. He was in the warm embrace of his daughter, Gerilyn, and granddaughter, Sabrina when he passed. There will be no funeral service for Glen as he wished to be cremated and have his ashes spread in his garden. He wished for a celebration of life, as he lived a very good one.
Glen was born on 20th October 1934 in Ararat Virginia to Novie and Earlie Newman. He lived most of his life in Mount Airy but moved to New Jersey where he met his wife, Bernice Newman, who passed away two years ago after her battle with cancer. Together they raised three beautiful daughters; Gwendalyn, Glenda, and Gerilyn. He worked as a cook at the white rose while in Jersey until he moved back to his hometown in Mount Airy where he spent most of his life living with his wife. Glen and Bernice were avid members of the Mt. Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church, where even in his last days still attended church online.
After a long battle with his ailments, he moved to Seaford, VA in April 2021 to live out the rest of his time in the loving care of his family. His family paid this tribute to him, “Glen would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He was a kind, loving person who was adored by many people in his life. He will be remembered for generations to come and will always be in our hearts.” He is survived by his brother Leon and wife Eileen, his 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren; Danalyn, Matthew, Nicole, Tonnianne, Sabrina, and Samantha, and 3 great-grandchildren; Jules, Gemma, and Mia.
