Todd Franklin Marshall passed away peacefully at his home in Simpsonville, SC, on June 13, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. Throughout his illness, Todd never lost his sense of humor, his determination, or his deep concern for others — qualities that defined him throughout his life.

Born on April 19, 1963, to the late Dale and Catherine Marshall, Todd grew up in Claudville, VA, where he developed a strong work ethic working summers in the family’s tobacco fields and the hosiery mills of nearby Mt. Airy, NC. He graduated from Patrick County High School and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech.

Todd built a successful 30-year career in electrical engineering and later in engineering sales and services in the Greenville, SC area. He thrived on the challenges of sales and was recognized for his excellence — in 2024, he received Graybar’s Diamond Club Award, ranking first in his category as a Diamond Champion. Outside of work, Todd enjoyed hiking, riding motorcycles, and taking road trips with his motorcycle buddies.

He is survived by his sister, Janet M. Perkins, and her husband, Braxton L. Perkins III; his nephew, Braxton L. Perkins IV; and his niece, Catherine Todd Perkins. He dearly loved his niece and nephew and faithfully called them every Sunday afternoon to catch up and share stories. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Jewel and Richard Boyles, along with many cousins. Todd cherished his extended family and maintained close ties throughout his life. The family is deeply thankful for their love, support, and prayers.

The support and prayers of Todd’s friends and coworkers meant a great deal to him. The family is especially grateful for the unwavering friendship of Wes and Melissa Holder, Todd’s dear friends since the early days of his career. Their presence throughout Todd’s journey was a source of strength and comfort to him and to all of us.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 PM at Hatchers Chapel Community Church, 268 Hatchers Chapel Road, Claudville, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent by mail to Todd’s beloved childhood church, Hatchers Chapel Community Church.
