Stuart Town Council members on Wednesday learned that plans and contract documents for the new fire department were submitted to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which provides leadership for rural development and in other areas, for review. Eddie Turner, of the Lane Group, presented the plans and reviewed the project, which will include 5,000 square feet of leased space that will be used by Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC). The building totals nearly 30,000 square feet.
Mayor Ray Weiland said he will ask the agencies reviewing the plans to expedite the process.
Council also met in closed session regarding employment matters.
