The Lady Cougar Volleyball Team finished 2nd in the district and will begin regional play this week as the number 2 seed.
On April 2, PC hosted Halifax, winning in straight sets. Lainie Hopkins had 25 assists and 3 aces. Suzanne Gonzalez had 14 kills, 10 digs, and 2 blocks. Caroline Vernon had 7 kills, 6 aces, and 9 digs, while Kenzie Belcher added 9 digs, 3 aces, and 3 assists.
On April 5, the Lady Cougars took on the Lady Trojans of Tunstall, losing in five sets. Caroline Vernon led the Cougars with 14 kills, while Suzanne Gonzalez added 1o kills. Lainie Hopkins had 19 assists and 4 aces, and Julianna Overby had 16 assist and 4 aces.
On April 7, Patrick County hosted Bassett on Senior Night, defeating the Bengals in both matches of a doubleheader. In game one, Lauren Largen had 9 kills, Suzanne Gonzalez had 8 kills and 1 ace, Elleigh Large had 5 kills and 5 blocks, Lainie Hopkins and Julianna Overby had 13 assists each, and Kenzie Belcher had 14 digs.
In game two, Suzanne Gonzalez had 9 kills and 1 ace, Caroline Vernon had 8 kills, 5 digs, and 2 aces. Lauren Largen had 8 kills, 1 block, and 1 ace, Julianna Overby had 17 assists and 3 aces, Lainie Hopkins had 15 assists, while Kenzie Belcher added 14 digs.
Patrick County travelled to Halifax on April 8 to finish out the regular season, winning in four sets. Suzanne Gonzalez had 15 kills and 17 digs, Lainie Hopkins had 30 assists and 10 digs, Kenzie Belcher had 23 digs and 4 aces, while Caroline Vernon added 9 kills, 12 digs, and 5 aces. The Cougars finished 8-2 on the regular season and will host the first round of regional play on Wednesday, April 14.
