Violet Marie Riggins Haynes, age 56, of Ararat, was at home, surrounded by her loving family when she died on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
She was born in Wythe County on October 12, 1959, and was a daughter of the late Elmer Franklin and Nannie Violet DeHart Riggins. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Mikle Dixon, Jr. and siblings, Herbert, Willie and Louise.
Surviving are her husband, Odell Haynes; her children, Johnny Spurlock, Jr., Travis Spurlock, Brandy Hubbard, Monica Hamm, Shannon Haynes and Shane Haynes; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters, Sarah, Matt, Willie, Louise, Roy, Charlotte, Joe, Bobby, Ronnie, Billy and Mike.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, N.C., by the Rev. Clyde Bishop. Burial was in Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
