The Virginia Lottery is returning to Martinsville Speedway to once again sponsor Virginia Lottery Pole Day on October 28, Speedway President Clay Campbell announced July 18.
The Virginia Lottery, which has partnered with the race track since 2014, will also sponsor Pole Day for the STP 500 race weekend in the spring of 2017.
“We’ve enjoyed a great partnership with the Virginia Lottery the past few seasons and I’m thrilled to have them back,” Campbell said. “We love the fact they, like Martinsville Speedway, have deep roots in the Commonwealth and are instantly recognized by many of our fans.”
“We’re delighted to have this presence at one of the most exciting places in the Commonwealth: Martinsville Speedway,” said Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto. “The Lottery is a familiar presence at the speedway. We’re game for NASCAR and Virginia tracks.”
The Virginia Lottery generates more than $1.4 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools. Operating entirely on revenue from the sale of Lottery products, the Virginia Lottery generated nearly $534 million for Virginia’s public schools in Fiscal Year 2015.
In recent races, Joey Logano has dominated Virginia Lottery Pole Day, taking the last three Virginia Lottery Pole Awards. He’s the first driver since Jeff Gordon to win three consecutive poles at Martinsville Speedway and a fourth would make him the first driver in the speedway’s storied history to win four straight.
Logano also holds the Martinsville Speedway Sprint Cup qualifying record, 100.201 mph set in 2014.
In addition to qualifying for the Goody’s Fast Relief 500, there will be plenty of more excitement on Virginia Lottery Pole Day. The Camping World Truck Series will practice for the Texas Roadhouse 200 presented by Alpha Energy Solutions and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will practice for the Goody’s Fast Relief 500.
Tickets for Virginia Lottery Pole Day are just $15 and youth are 12-and-under are free.
