The deadline to register to vote in the November election is Monday, Oct. 15.
The date also marks the deadline to update the address on voter registrations for the November 6, 2018 general and special elections.
Any citizen needing to register to vote or update their address may do so by: appearing in person at the Registrar’s Office, mailing a completed application to Post Office Box 635, Stuart, Va., 24171, or online at vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation.
The Registrar’s Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. It is located in the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Building 106 Rucker St. Room 216C in Stuart.
Virginia law requires all voters to present an acceptable form of photo identification when voting.
Information about acceptable forms of identification can be found at http://www.elections.virginia.gov/voter-outreach/photo-id.html.
A free voter photo identification card is available to any registered voter who does not already have a valid form of identification and can be obtained by visiting any Registrar’s Office.
Registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot may do so in the Registrar’s Office during regular office hours.
The office will also be open on Saturday, October 27, 2018 and November 3, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for in person absentee voting.
To request to vote absentee by mail, an absentee ballot application must be received on or before Tuesday, October 30, 2018. A request to receive a ballot by mail may be done online at vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation.
