William Arnold Clinton Vipperman, 77, of Buena Road, Martinsville, passed away at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
He was born December 15, 1938, in Floyd County and was a son of the late Charles Lewis Vipperman and the late Lucy Ella Bowman Vipperman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Opal V. Alderman, half-sisters, Leota V. Waltington, Ruth V. Fisher and Viola V. Haymore; brothers Claude Vipperman and Coy C. Vipperman, and half-brothers, Clyde Vipperman and Charlie Vipperman.He was a member of the Rich Acres Christian Church. He retired from Roadway Express in Kernersville, N.C., where he was a line haul driver.
Clinton was a member of the Piedmont Masonic Lodge #152 A.F.&A.M. Kazim Shriners and he volunteered as a hospital transport driver. He was a member of the Meadows of Dan VFW and a member of the American Legion Pannell Post #42. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Crisis recall.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo Foley Vipperman of the home; one son, Ronnie D. Vipperman (Cathy) of Stoneville, N.C.; grandchildren, Erica Vipperman and Olivia V. Wilson (Don); great-grandchildren, Chaely Busick and Gracelyn Wilson; and his mother-in-law, Cora Grace Foley of Stuart.
The funeral was held Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the Rich Acres Christian Church with Minister Tim Hunt officiating. Burial was in Meadows of Dan Baptist Church cemetery.
