The National Weather Service in Blacksburg issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Thursday.
Rain is expected to change to snow between 9 p.m. and midnight Wednesday.
Light to moderate snow accumulation is expected overnight Wednesday due to a winter storm system tracking across the southeast that will bring rain, then snow to the area late this Wednesday through early Thursday morning.
Total snow accumulations of up to one inch are possible, with additional snow accumulation expected in the mountains. ” according to the NWS, which cautions that slippery road conditions may impact the morning commute.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
