The winners of the 4th of July Bluegrass and Old Time Music Competition in Vesta were selected Saturday.
The competition categories were banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bands, vocals, and flatfooting. There were three levels of competition – children, teens, and adults.
The prize for individual competitions was $15 for 1st place, $10 for 2nd place, and $5 for 3rd place. Bands will win $50 for 1st place, $30 for 2nd place, and $20 for 3rd place.
Winners were:
Adult Guitar – 1st place, Stanley Widener; 2nd place, Brad Murphy; 3rd place, Jerry Foust.
Adult Mandolin – 1st place, Stan Rowe; 2nd place, Jim Purcell.
Adult Banjo – 1st place, Stanley Wagner; 2nd place, Pam Montfort; 3rd place, Robert Stowe.
Old Time Bands – 1st place, Twin Country Ramblers; 2nd place, Lovers Leap Rounders.
Adult Vocal – 1st place, Lisa Roberson; 2nd place, Stanley Rowe; 3rd place, Carlie Cockram.
Child Dobro – 1st place, Jacob Spencer.
Adult Fiddle – 1st place tie – Morgan and Matt K; 2nd place, Jason Phillips.
Adult Flat Footing – 1st place, Brenda Jones; 2nd place tie, Susan Blankenship and Ben Harmen.
Child Flat Footing – 1st place, Olivia.
