Woolwine Elementary school held its annual Title 1 Reading Night in October.
About 35 students attended this “camping in” themed program. The night began with a PTO meeting, with students in grades K-7 singing campfire songs. Later on, families enjoyed a hotdog dinner complete with make and take S’mores. After that, Kevin Keith from the Department of Forestry read “The True Story of Smokey Bear” and talked about campfire safety with the children. Each student in attendance talked about campfire safety.
those attending received a merit or homework pass (depending on their grade level), a flashlight and free book provided by the Title 1 program, and several items from the Virginia Department of Forestry, such as a book, coloring book, Frisbee, and a pencil. The staff at Woolwine Elementary would like to invite all families to attend our Title 1 Family Math night, which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6.
