Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team were well on their way to a possible top-10 finish when they were involved in a wreck with fewer than 100 laps remaining in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, resulting in a 31st-place finish
Running in the top 15 all day, even turning several laps in the top 10, Blaney was an innocent victim when Chase Elliott spun during a lap-257 re-start, crossed the track and got into the front end of the Wood Brothers’ famous No. 21 Ford.
The Motorcraft/Quick Lane crew made extensive repairs to the splitter bar and radiator pan and sent Blaney back to the track in 31st place, 25 laps down. The rookie wheelman finished the day in the same position 27 laps behind the winner.
Blaney maintained his hold on 20th place in the driver points standings.
The next race on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule is the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway, Sunday, October 16, at 2:15 p.m. ET.
