Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 61 in Mount Airy, N.C., elected new officers for 2017-2018. Meetings are held monthly on each third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Chapter House, Frank E. Walker Sr. Veterans Park, 767 West Lebanon St. in Mount Airy. Call (336) 789-0328 or email disabledamericanvet61@gmail.com for information. The organization has two DAV vans that run to VA medical facilities in Kernersville, N.C., on Monday and Wednesday and Salisbury, N.C. on Tuesday and Thursday for appointments between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. On those days, call (336) 789-0328. Van rides must be scheduled at least one week ahead. DAV vans will transport veterans to area hospitals from Stokes and Surry Counties in North Carolina, and Patrick and Carroll Counties.
