4-H holds Share the Fun Talent Show

The 4-H Share the Fun Talent Show was held Friday night, February 24, at Patrick County High School.

Shenandoah Shelton was the overall winner in the senior division with a combination guitar and vocal act, “Hallelujah”. Heather Edwards won the junior division with her dance “Shatter Me.”

The theme for the night was “4-H is Music to My Ears.” In the junior division three acts were chosen to move up to the area competition to be held on Saturday, May 6 at Riverlawn Elementary School in Pulaski County.

Heather Edwards will be competing in the dance category. Aniya Penn and Isabella Rivero will be competing at the area competition in the vocal division singing “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara. Starring in the combination category at area competition will be Mitchell Wimbush with his combination dance/singing routine “Rock with You” by Michael Jackson.

The senior act moving up to the state competition to be held on June 20 at Virginia Tech will be combination act Shenandoah Shelton performing “Hallelujah.” Shenandoah received a blue ribbon for her performance.

Senior acts receiving a red ribbons included vocalist Makayla France singing “My Immortal” and vocalist Victoria Flores with “Never Forget You”.

Blue ribbon winners in the junior division were: instrumentalists: Heather Edwards dancing to “Shatter Me;” Mitchell Wimbush with his combination act “Rock with You;”;Aniya Penn and Isabella Rivero singing “Scars to Your Beautiful;” Nicholas Tarpley dancing to “Ju Ju on the Beat;” Taylor Edwards singing “King of the World;” and Madison Mullis and Lillian Byers dancing to “Friends.”

Red ribbon winners in the junior division were vocalist Taylor Smith singing “Mercy” and vocalists Jessica Conner and Maria Turner singing “God is on the Move.”

4-H Camp slides were shown from last year’s 4-H camp as leaders begin preparation for the 2017 4-H camp to be held June 26-30 at WE Skelton 4-H Center at Smith Mountain Lake. “We deeply appreciate Amanda Collins for putting together this year’s 4-H camp slide show,” said Carol Byrd, 4-h leader.

Stage managers included Kristy Hughes, Abigail Epperson, Suzanne Gonzalez, Kerrigan Murphy, and Josie Vernon.

‘We also appreciate our judges: Maura Elkins, Peyton Elkins, Sarah Foley, T’Keyah Hines, and Marcie Horne,” Byrd said. “This show would not be possible without our elementary school talent show managers. We are truly thankful for the support of all of the faculty, staff, and parents at each elementary school that make this show possible.”
