First Call Environmental gave back to our local community this week, choosing a deserving family while shopping at our local Walmart here in Stuart.

Dustin Hazlewood, area manager for the business, said “the company does a great job investing itself in the communities that we serve.”

First Call is headquartered in Ashland Virginia, with offices throughout the Commonwealth, including Roanoke.

Each year, the “First call Cares” campaign aims to help individuals within the community with a gift that will hopefully make Christmas a little brighter for a local family.

Recently, Hazlewood approached Brittany Sutherland and her family as they were shopping and handed her a sealed envelope, which contained a $100 to be used for whatever they needed/wanted. Hazlewood said Sutherland and her children were “very surprised and appreciative of the unexpected gift,” adding that each Christmas can be a stressful time for families, and especially this year with all that we have had to endure.

Hazlewood said he hoped “this small gift will have a great impact on this family,” as it did his heart by being able to give it.
