Cleo and Billy Ray George were honored with their 50th wedding anniversary celebration on Oct. 13. Martha Collins and Angie Cassell, cousins, planned and carried out this special event which was held in the late Freddie Pike cabin in Claudville. The Georges were married Oct. 13, 1968, in the Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David McCarty and the Rev. Harry Phillips officiating.
The Georges are parents of Kevin George and wife, Candie, of Clarksville, and Kirk George, of Ararat.
They are especially fond of their grandchildren, Slate George and Ella George.
Billy Ray is retired from The Turbine Component Plant in Rural Hall, N.C. Cleo is retired from the Patrick County Public School System. Cleo is the former Mary Cleo Slate.
