Retired school employees recognized at board meeting

Schools Superintendent Dean Gilbert said he appreciated the retirees service to the schools and the students.

“We have a wonderful school system, and everyone has a hand in that success,” he said. “You have my sincere appreciation for what you’ve done for our students here in Patrick County.”

The board recognized 25 employees:

Robin B. Amos – teacher for 33 years;

Marcia B. Barnard – teacher assistant for 12 years;

Betty Sue Handy Biggs – teacher assistant for 21 years;

Edith Bowman- lunchroom/cafeteria worker for 16 years;

Herbert F. Conner – custodian for 16 years;

Charles W. Davis- Bus Driver for 6 years;

Robin F. Feron – administrative assistant for 27 years;

Revonda B. Gilbert – teacher for 29 years;

Lilla M. Gray – lunchroom/cafeteria worker for 34 years;

Gary L. Griffith – bus driver for 26 years;

Ann K. Hughes – teacher for 34 years total, including 7-years in Patrick County;

Larry Hylton – head custodian for19 years;

Judith G. Ison – teacher for 35 years total, with 5-years in Patrick County;

Brenda Carolyn Martin – teacher for 34 years;

Mary F. Massey – bus driver for 39 years;

Glen D. McAlexander – bus driver for 14 years;

Willie L. “Papa” Reynolds – bus driver for 45 years;

Linda Roop – teacher assistant for 29 years;

Diane Burnette Rorrer – teacher assistant for 25 years;

Kevin Shinault – teacher for 38 years total, with 4-years in Patrick County;

Nadine H. Smith – teacher for 38 years;

Deborah Taylor – teacher for 35 years total, with 14-years in Patrick County;

Jefferson Tolbert – bus driver for 12 years;

Lisa B. Wilkerson – teacher for 32 years;

Laurinda M. Williams – teacher for 35 years.
