Hubert and Evadell Lyon of Woolwine celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 10. In their honor, the family hosted a celebration at Smith River Church of the Brethren on Sunday, August 14. The Lyons were married on August 10, 1951 at a parsonage in Stuart by Rev. Robert Mann.
Mrs. Lyon is the former Laura Evadell Rorrer. She is the daughter of the late Maude Ethel Belcher Rorrer and Coy Allen Rorrer. Lyon is the son of the late Lillian Elva Pratt Lyon and James Elma Lyon. They have three children: David Lyon of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Amy Mangrum and her husband Bobby of Woolwine; and Timothy Lyon and his wife Christina of Wake Forest, N.C.
They have five grandchildren: Audrey Jones and her husband Anthony; James Mangrum and his fiancé Courtney Cohen; Kayla Lyon, Rachel Lyon, and Drew Lyon. They also have two great-grandchildren; Alyssa Jones and Noah Jones.
