Mrs. Connie Sue Boyles Slate, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital. Mrs. Slate was born August 30, 1947, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Julius Carlyle Boyles and Annie Ruth Roberts Boyles Allred. Connie was a loving homemaker and a member of Willis Gap Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Ann and Bradley Dale Radford of Ooltewah, TN; two grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Chrisie Radford of Claudville, VA, and Jamie and Makayla Radford of Hixson, TN; three great-grandchildren, Ellie King and Kenzie Radford, both of Claudville, VA, and Jayden Radford of Richmond, VA; a sister, Mary Boyles Owens of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Jewel Boyles of Claudville, VA.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slate was preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Slate; two sisters, Betty Boyles Brown and Ann Boyles Powers; and a brother, Roger Sylvester Boyles.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Pedigo Cemetery, with the Rev. Darren Slate officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the Slate home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
