The Patrick County Cougar wrestlers traveled to Magna Vista High School last Wednesday night for a quad match with the Warriors, the Comets from Halifax and the Eagles of George Washington of Danville. The Cougars defeated Magna Vista but lost to the Comets and the Eagles in close matches.
In the first match of the night, the Cougars lost 39-33 to GW of Danville.
Brian Lange, 120 lbs., won his match with a pin in 1:40.
Owen Smith came up with a 17-15 decision at 126 lbs.
Darious Williams scored the first of his three pins on the night at 132 lbs. in 4:45.
Jeremy Gunter picked up his first pin of the night at 138 lbs.
Ronnie Archer picked up six points with a forfeit at 152 lbs.
Daniel Hernandez also won with a forfeit at 220 lbs.
In the second match, the Cougars lost by three points to Halifax, 33-30.
Lange won by forfeit at 120 lbs.
Williams pinned his man in 2:14 at 132 lbs.
Jake Howell picked up a forfeit at 160 lbs.
Hernandez (220 lbs.) and Derek Howard (HWT) also won by forfeits.
The Cougars beat Magna Vista 39-18 in the third match of the night.
Lange won with a 23-second pin at 120 lbs.
Owen Smith picked up a forfeit at 126 lbs.
It took Darious Williams 1:43 for his third pin of the night at 132 lbs.
Jeremy Gunter won with a pin in two minutes, just as the buzzer sounded, at 138 lbs.
AJ Robertson won a 9-8 decision at 145 lbs.
Ronnie Archer scored his first pin of the season in 1:11 at 152 lbs.
Jake Howe scored his second forfeit at 160 lbs.
The Cougars traveled to GW of Danville for a tri-match with Dan River and the Eagles Monday night. Wednesday, they travel to Franklin County for a quad with Bassett and Halifax County. They will not wrestle again until January 10 when they travel to Martinsville for a quad with Magna Vista and Tunstall.
