The Patrick Springs Cub Scout Pack 69 and BSA troop 69 held a flag retirement ceremony at Patrick Springs Park on Nov. 10.
When Old Glory becomes worn, torn, faded or badly soiled, it is time to replace that flag with a new one. The Cub Scouts participated in the retirement program by explaining the symbolism and meaning of our nation’s flag. Boy Scout Troop 69 maintained vigil over the fire until the traces of the flag remnants were destroyed. They remained reverent during the service and acting Cubmaster, George Stovall said that this was Pack 69’s third retirement ceremony.
If you would like your flag retired, place your flag in the retirement box at Elizabeth’s Pizza or contact a scout or scout leader from Pack 69 or Troop 69.
