The Patrick County Youth Wrestling team hosted Franklin County and Halifax County Youth Wrestling teams on Saturday, January 19 at the Patrick County High School. Ages ranged from five through 12 with a mix of boys and girls. The three teams went head to head, with each wrestler getting two to three matches a piece.

The Patrick County wrestlers performed well against a strong Franklin County team.

Some notable wins included Leia Cobbler, who finished 3-0 on the day. Others representing Patrick County included Kris Blankenship, Kenny Blankenship, Jacob Seay, Ian Martinez-Tejeda, Erik Martinez-Tejeda, Landon Moles, Wesley Horton, Blake Dehart, Reid Corns, Tyler Cobbler, and Logan Rakes.

Each of the wrestlers gave their best effort in their first home tournament of the year. Their next tournament will be against stiff competition in Franklin County in February.

The season lasts from the first week of December through the first weekend in March.
