Fred Millard Hooker, age 81, of Lawsonville, N.C., died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on April 19, 1934, and was a son of the late James Merritt Hooker and Dorothy Puckett Hooker. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Hooker, three sisters, Eula Mae Hooker Flinchum, Carlene Hooker Bullins and Rebecca Ann Hooker Flinchum; and three brothers, James Forister Hooker, Clifford Hooker and Gurney Hooker.
He was a member of Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lillian Bullins Hooker of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wade and Kelly Hooker of Critz and Ronnie Hooker of Lawsonville; six grandchildren, Jeremy Hooker, Melissa Hooker, Tyler Hooker, Taylor Scearce, Benjamin Hooker and Nicholas Hooker; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Allen Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
