QuickStart Tennis of Central Virginia (QCV) is pleased to announce that QuickStart Tennis in School training will be held Monday, August 8, at Patrick County High School. The session will start at 12:30 p.m.
In addition to physical education teachers, the training is free and open to any community members who want to help kids learn the fun, QuickStart way to play a lifetime sport.
Lynda Harrill, QuickStart Tennis coordinator and QCV founder, said, “Many thanks to Andrea Cassell, instructional coordinator with Patrick County Schools, and Sharon Smith, girls’ tennis coach at the high school, for helping us arrange this training session. Patrick County will be our 26th county and 29th community served.
“We are looking forward to getting almost 2,000 students in six elementary schools in Patrick County developing motor skills, playing tennis and learning life lessons in PE classes. Through our Jump Start QuickStart Tennis Initiative, we train, equip and support schools and other youth-centric organizations that commit to teaching kid-sized tennis. We raise funds and buy portable nets, racquets and balls for schools, parks and recreation departments and other organizations.
“We aim to make it free and easy for teachers and other instructors to hop on the QuickStart Tennis bus and come along for the fun! It’s all about using tennis as a vehicle for positive youth development and helping combat childhood obesity and physical inactivity in the fun QuickStart way. And the QuickStart format works for beginners of any age and is terrific for inter-generational play.”
