Wednesday, April 20

The Victory Baptist Church in Fieldale will hold a special singing featuring The Cooper Sisters. All are invited.

 

Thursday, April 21

The Carroll County Genealogy Club will hold its regular scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. at the club on Main Street in Hillsville. If Carroll County schools are closed due to inclement weather the meeting will be postponed.

 

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Brandon Simmons and Rob Martin, who represent the Dan River District on the board of supervisors and school board respectively, will discuss the county government and school system. The club building is located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.

 

The Blue Ridge Regional Library Stuart site will hold a pastels & mocktails art class at 3:30 p.m. Those interested should call the library at 276-694-3552 to register as space is limited. 

 

Friday, April 22

The Woolwine United Church’s Mobile Food Unit and Ross Harbour’s Children’s Clothing Ministry will be at Howell’s Furniture from 3-5 p.m. with free food and clothing.

 

The Patrick Springs Fire Department will hold Bingo. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m. Hotdogs, BBQ, desserts, and drinks will be available for purchase with proceeds going to help the Peters Creek Baptist Church Youth Summer Camp.

 

Woolwine Elementary School will hold a bingo event at the Woolwine Cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m. Food including pizza, chips, cookies, and a drink will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for a bingo game package which includes 10 games with three bingo cards per game and one coverall game, one dauber, and two door prize tickets. Those interested in selling wares may contact the school at 276-930-2811. A $15 donation is asked for each table.

 

Saturday, April 23

The Patrick Henry National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will have a marker dedication at 2 p.m. in Griffith Valley in Woolwine. A new marker will be dedicated to patriot William McAlexander.

 

Saturday, April 23 & 30

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold an Action Photography course from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Patrick County site. Pre-registration is required by calling 276-656-5461, or by going to ph.augusoft.net.

 

Wednesday, April 27

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold an Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the P&HCC Frith Exhibit Hall. The cost is $99 with an early bird discount of $75 for those who register by April 13. The deadline to register is Friday, April 22. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augosoft.net, or calling 276-656-0260. 

Friday, April 29

The PC Youth Sports will host a Bingo and BBQ event at the Rotary Building in Stuart. Food will be available for pick up from 5-6 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. Bingo is $25 for a play pack and BBQ plates are $12. Pre-orders are available and desserts are available for purchase by calling or texting 276022906573. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, gift cards, and prizes. All of the proceeds go to PC Youth Sports.

 

A spaghetti supper will be held at the Dobyns Community Building from 4-7 p.m. Eat in or take out.

 

Saturday, April 30

The Vesta Community Quarter Auction will be held at the Vesta Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. The event is to help with the upkeep of the Community Center. Concessions by Momma M’s Concessions will be available for purchase.

 

A  benefit for Robert Reynolds will be held at the large Stuart Rotary Building. There are several opportunities to help with Robert’s ongoing medical bills, which started with his liver disease diagnosis 10 years ago. He’s been unable to work for the past two years. A yard sale of Robert’s personal items (including some Plantiques treasures) begins at 8 a.m., a silent auction with lots of donated items is ongoing from 2-7 p.m. Spaghetti plates, including homemade sauce, tossed salad, bread, homemade desserts and soft drinks or water will be sold (eat in or take out) for $10 from 3-7 p.m., and Bingo starts at 6 p.m. with lots of door prizes. Card sets of four for the 20 games, 2 coveralls cards and 2 door prize tickets will be sold for $25, all additional sets will be $15.

 

Wednesday, May 4

The Ararat Ruritan Club will host a barn quilt painting class which will be led by Lisa Martin with The Wormy Chestnut. Pre-Register via email to lisaorpheus@gmail.com, to ensure your template will be designed and ready for painting. The cost is $30 and includes all supplies needed to complete the barn quilt. The club building is located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.

 

Thursday, May 5

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a professional development course from 9-11 a.m. in-person or virtual. The cost of the course is $194, which includes the DISC Agile Assessment. Those who register by April 21 will receive $10. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augusoft.net, or calling (276)-656-0260.

 

A National Day of Prayer for the Nation will be held at the old courthouse on Main Street in Stuart from 12-12:30 p.m. For more information, contact Wayne Moore, the Pastor of High Point Baptist Church, at 336-793-7991.

 

Tuesday, May 10

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a leadership course from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in-person or virtual. The cost of the course is $89 for an individual session. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augusoft.net, or calling (276)-656-0260.

 

Wednesday, May 11

The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen. 

 

The Patrick County Library will hosts Story Time with Ms. Sam at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold the LEGO Club with Ms. Sam on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This program is mainly intended for school age children. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

Stuart United Methodist Church will offer The Circle of Hands from 1:30-3:30 p.m. the first and third Sunday of every month. If it is a holiday weekend, the meeting will be cancelled. Men and women are invited to attend the new group, which offers an opportunity to fellowship, and bring a project to work on or lean a new craft.
