The PC Youth Sports will host a Bingo and BBQ event at the Rotary Building in Stuart. Food will be available for pick up from 5-6 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. Bingo is $25 for a play pack and BBQ plates are $12. Pre-orders are available and desserts are available for purchase by calling or texting 276022906573. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, gift cards, and prizes. All of the proceeds go to PC Youth Sports.
A spaghetti supper will be held at the Dobyns Community Building from 4-7 p.m. People can eat in or take out.
Wayside Community Church will hold a Bring A Friend Friday event at 6:30 p.m. with inspirational music. Mike Hall will be a special singing guest and there will be homemade desserts and light refreshments served immediately after the music.
Saturday, April 30
The Vesta Community Quarter Auction will be held at the Vesta Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. The event is to help with the upkeep of the Community Center. Concessions by Momma M’s Concessions will be available for purchase.
A benefit for Robert Reynolds will be held at the Stuart Rotary “Big” Building on Saturday, April 30. There are several opportunities to help with Robert’s ongoing medical bills, which started with his liver disease diagnosis ten years ago. He’s been unable to work for the past two years. A yard sale of Robert’s personal items (including some Plantiques treasures) begins at 8 a.m., a silent auction with lots of donated items is ongoing from 2-7 p.m. Spaghetti plates, including homemade sauce, tossed salad, bread, homemade desserts and soft drinks or water will be sold (eat in or take out) for $10 from 3-7 p.m. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. with lots of door prizes. Card sets of four for the 20 games, 2 coveralls cards and 2 door prize tickets will be sold for $25, all additional sets will be $15.
The Blue Ridge Regional Library Patrick County site will hold its annual Castle Party from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Patrick County Democrats will hold a community potluck picnic at 1 p.m. at the large picnic shelter. Voters will be able to meet Taysha DeVaughan, a Democratic candidate for the 9th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the general election on November 8.
Wednesday, May 4
The Ararat Ruritan Club will host a barn quilt painting class which will be led by Lisa Martin with The Wormy Chestnut. Pre-Register via email to lisaorpheus@gmail.com. The cost is $30 and includes all supplies needed to complete the barn quilt. The club building is located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a professional development course from 9-11 a.m. in-person or virtual. The cost of the course is $194, which includes the DISC Agile Assessment. Jeb Stuart’s Birthplace History in Laurel Hill will hold a Jeb Stuart Commemoration Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be items to sell to benefit the building fund and music, refreshments, raffles, and displays. Information and tours of the Laurel Hill will also be provided.
Monday, May 9
The Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) local board will meet at 12 p.m. in the Hooker Exhibit Hal in the Frith Economic Development Center. Lunch will be provided at 12 p.m. with the meeting immediately following.
Tuesday, May 10
Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a leadership course from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in-person or virtual. The cost of the course is $89 for an individual session. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augusoft.net, or calling (276)-656-0260.

The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.

Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a Basic Contractor Licensing Class from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class will cost $189 and pre-registration is required by calling (276) 656-0260 or going to ph.augusoft.net.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen.

Stuart United Methodist Church will offer The Circle of Hands from 1:30-3:30 p.m. the first and third Sunday of every month. If it is a holiday weekend, the meeting will be cancelled. Men and women are invited to attend the new group, which offers an opportunity to fellowship, and bring a project to work on or lean a new craft.
