The Pride of Patrick County Marching Band competed in its first competition of the season on Saturday. The band traveled to George Wythe High School in Wytheville, where it kicked the season off big with a rating of Superior and winning the several categories: 1st Place Color Guard, 1st Place General Effect, 1st Place Marching, 1st Place Music, Class 4A Overall Winner, and the coveted Band of the Day/Grand Champion.
