“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

And boy did life seem to start all over this September. Events, school and the Patrick County Agricultural Fair all happened. While the chamber may have not looked busy by not having an event on the calendar this month, we stayed busy with countless meetings.

With the multiple projects Virginia Tech has been hired as a consultant, the chamber was meeting with their teams to provide input for the Downtown Revitalization plan project and the West Piedmont Agri-business project. Multiple meetings regarding upcoming events of the Apple Dumpling 5-K race, Stuart Spooktacular and the Dehart Park’s Festival of Lights. All great community events take planning. We are also staying busy trying to input all the great community events happening this month and through the end of the year. Please make sure to send your event information to the chamber.

For October, the chamber is busy with the Scarecrow contest. Scarecrows need to be displayed and pictures uploaded on our form by October 15. We will then create the online voting form to run from October 16 to October 31.

The Apple Dumpling Festival is Saturday October 22. The chamber is a title sponsor for the 5K run/walk on the Mayo River Rail Trail.

More information on upcoming events and other events can be found on the chamber’s website www.patrickchamber.com.

(Adcock is the executive director of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce.)
