The Buffalo Ridge/Fairystone Community Crime Watch meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church. The guest speakers are representatives from STEP Inc.
Friday, Feb. 10
Poor Man’s Supper, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Patrick Springs Park Building, sponsored by the Ruritan Club. Meals include pinto Beans, potatoes, cornbread, dessert and drink.
Saturday, Feb. 11
A Turkey Shoot, sponsored by the Patrick County Patriots, will be held at the Smith River Wildlife Building on Charity Highway in Woolwine, starting at 1 p.m. Practice rounds begin at 12:30. Food will be available for purchase by the Patrick County Patriots.
Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will hold a Fab Lab Family Day at the Patrick County Fab Lab to help people customize valentines using the Laser Engraver from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pre-registration is required by going to ph.augusoft.net, or calling (276) 656-5461.

Providence United Methodist Church holds its annual subs and salad for sale for Super Bowl Weekend, be available on drive thru on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. and Sunday 12:30-3:30 p.m. Eight-inch subs are offered with three meats, three cheeses, lettuce, tomato, pickles, chips or salads and all the same fixings except crackers not chips. Raven Rock Wesleyan Church, at 1886 Raven Rock Road, Ararat, VA, invites our community to a special Friend Day at 11 a.m., with a fellowship meal afterwards. All are welcome.
Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold a Valentine’s Spaghetti Meal from 12-2 p.m. Plates are $10 each and come with spaghetti, toast, salad, dessert, and a drink. Meals are dine-in or to-go.

Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold a couples’ Zumba from 7-8 p.m. Classes will be $5 per couple and led by certified Zumba instructor Elizabeth Woolwine.

The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.

The Patrick Springs Park Board will hold a bingo fundraiser at Patrick Springs Primary School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m.
The Woolwine Methodist Church Food Truck will be at the Fairystone Fire Department from 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 18
The Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department will have a Country Breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m. Dine in prices are $10 for adult plates and $5 for child plates. All take out plates are $10 each. To call in an order, call (276) 930-2113.

The Ararat Community Crime Watch meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Ararat Ruritan Building. The guest speaker will be Commonwealth Attorney Dayna K. Bobbitt.

The Patrick County Democratic Committee will meet at the Patrick County Library at 11 a.m. to discuss achievements and recruit candidates. Lunch after is optional.

The Patrick County Recreation Department will hold sign-ups February 1 through February 28, for tee-ball, minor league softball, and major league softball. To participate in tee-ball, students must be ages 4 through 6 as of April 1, 2023. To participate in minor league softball, students must currently be enrolled in grades 3, 4, or 5. To participate in major league softball, students must currently be enrolled in grades 6 or 7. Games will be played in April and May. Parents can complete a sign-up form at any of the elementary schools or by calling the recreation office at 276-694-3917.
The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen.

The Ararat Ruritan Club hosts virtual raffles on its Facebook page on the first of each month. Various items are raffled off at $10 or $20 per limited chance. There are 30-35 chances on each raffle. The Stuart Elementary School Running Club will hit the pavements along the sidewalks in town on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Beginning tai-Chi classes, especially for seniors, will be offered at the Hooker Building at Rotary Field in Stuart on Mondays and Thursdays. Monday hours are from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and Thursday hours are from 3-4 p.m.
The Briarpatch Amateur Radio Club (BARC) and our Region Four Auxiliary Communication network (AUXCOMM) are meeting in person. Everyone interested in ham radio is invited to attend the BARC meeting, and all AUXCOMM volunteers and curious hams are encouraged to attend the AUXCOMM meeting. AUXCOMM meets at 6:30 p.m. and BARC meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th Thursday of each month at the First Christian Church in Galax, VA. Mark your calendars! The Meadows of Dan Baptist Church will host Henry Blackaby’s study “The Seven Realities of Experiencing God,” where the group will watch the videos with discussion and questions to follow. The study will meet Sundays at 5:30 p.m. from Jan. 29 to March 12.
