Wednesday, March 29
The Patrick County Board of Supervisors will hold a special called meeting at 6 p.m. in the third-floor courtroom of the Patrick County Administration Building.

Saturday, April 1
Fort Trail Baptist Church will hold a Family Easter Celebration at 10 a.m. There will be games, an egg hunt, crafts, Bible stories, prizes, and a free lunch.
The Ararat Ruritan Club will hold a Community Easter Egg Hunt for kids of all ages. Fun and games will begin at 10:00 am at the Ararat Ruritan Club, located at 4711 Ararat Highway, Ararat.
Easter Egg Hunt will be held at New Beginnings Church from 10 a.m. until 12. Events include games, stories and prizes. Food will be served.
The annual Stuart Wine & Beer Festival will be held from 12-4 p.m. at the Stuart Farmers’ Market. Admission is free and there will be a $10 wine tasting.
Sunday April 2
First United Methodist Church will hold a Palm Sunday service at 11 a.m. and the sanctuary will feature the children’s music ministries. There will not be an early service.
Monday, April 3 – Friday, April 7
Holy Week Midday services will be held this year at Stuart Methodist Church, 101 East Blue Ridge Street in Stuart. The services begin at noon with speakers from local Patrick County churches. A light lunch will be provided each day in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Speakers include:
Monday – John Franklin, Concord / Salem UMC; Tuesday – Tammy Franklin, Creasey’s Chapel/New Hope/Nettle Ridge UMC; Wednesday – Danny Redman, Stuart Presbyterian; Thursday – Thomas Walker, Stuart Baptist; Friday – Stephen Dixon, Stuart Baptist.
Thursday, April 6
First United Methodist Church will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Friday, April 7
The Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group, LLC, will hold a Gift Card Bingo event at the Stuart Rotary – Hooker Building. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m. Individual bingo cards are $20, and the bingo game card pack is $25. Concessions will be available for purchase.
First United Methodist Church will hold a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
The Woolwine United Methodist Food Truck will be at the Woolwine Rescue Squad building from 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, April 8
Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold a community Easter egg hunt from 2-4 p.m.
First United Methodist Church will be open Good Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for prayer.
Sunday, April 9
First United Methodist Church will hold an Easter Morning Worship at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary featuring the Chancel Choir and Brass 5 from Roanoke. There will not be an early service.
Wednesday, April 12
The Patrick County Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution day at the Stuart site from 8:30-11 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be a morning distribution in Ararat from 8:30-11 a.m., and an evening distribution in Meadows of Dan from 5-6:30 p.m.
Friday, April 21
The Woolwine United Methodist Food Truck will be at the Fairy Stone Rescue Squad building from 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, April 22
The Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group, LLC, will hold a Patrick County’s Got Talent at the Patrick County High School (PCHS) Auditorium at 7 p.m. The competition is open to all ages and prizes will be awarded by age groups. The Patrick County Parks and Recreation Office is now accepting soccer registration for the 2023–24 school year. Students who are 3–14 years of age (7th grade or under) as of August 1, are eligible to participate in the recreation department’s soccer program. Registration forms are available at any elementary school or parents can call the recreation office at (276) 694–3917 to register children. The deadline for registration is May 31. Games will be played in August – September.
The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen.
The Patrick County Library hosts Story Time with Ms. Sam at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call (276) 694-3352.

The Ararat Ruritan Club will hold Rook games every Monday night from 6:30-8 p.m.
The Briarpatch Amateur Radio Club (BARC) and our Region Four Auxiliary Communication network (AUXCOMM) are meeting in person. Everyone interested in ham radio is invited to attend the BARC meeting, and all AUXCOMM volunteers and curious hams are encouraged to attend the AUXCOMM meeting. AUXCOMM meets at 6:30 p.m. and BARC meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th Thursday of each month at the First Christian Church in Galax, VA. Mark your calendars!
