Patrick County High School anglers braved the rain and storms, but unfortunately were unable to secure a spot in the National tournament for this season. Nevertheless, everyone is proud of them and their dedication and hard work this year!
Dan River seniors Kasey Ferguson and Jakari Thomas and boat captain Jimmy Ferguson won the state fishing championship.
The 2023 Virginia BASS Nation High School State Championship was held at Lake Gaston near Holly Grove Marina in Bracey, Virginia.
The two-day tournament, April 29-30 featured 46 high school teams competing on the picturesque lake located on the border of Virginia and North Carolina. Ferguson and Thomas took first place out of 46 teams and won the title by 17.7 pounds over runner-up Cameron Fauver and Thomas Newman of Frederick County.
