Dugger awarded degree from The University of Alabama
Amanda Dugger, of Stuart, has received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration from The University of Alabama. UA awarded over 5,885 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies.
Area students among those named to SCC Honors Lists
The Spring Semester 2023 President’s List and Dean’s List from Surry Community College included the names of several local students:
President’s List – Spring 2023

Students qualifying for the President’s List must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours of college level coursework and maintain a 3.8 grade point average for the semester with no final grade lower than a “C.” Students on the President’s List receive a congratulatory letter.
Dean’s List – Spring 2023

The Dean’s List honors those students who achieve significant academic status in their classes. Students qualifying for the Dean’s List must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours of college level coursework and maintain a 3.5 grade point average for the semester with no final grade lower than a “C.” Students on the Dean’s List will also receive a congratulatory letter.
Vernon named to William & Mary Dean’s List
Caroline Vernon, of Stuart, was recently named to the Dean’s List at the College of William & Mary for the spring 2023 semester.
In order to achieve Dean’s List status, a full-time degree seeking undergraduate student must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.6 Quality Point Average during the semester.
William & Mary is the second oldest institution of higher learning in the United States.
Ararat resident named to JMU Dean’s List
Freedom Collins, of Ararat, has been named to the Dean’s List at James Madison University for the spring 2023 semester. Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Collins is majoring in Health Sciences – BS.
