Did you know that the apple is America’s 2nd favorite fruit? It’s a close second to the banana. On average each person consumes over 19 pounds of whole apples per year, and over 50 pounds of a combination of fresh apples and apple products (applesauce, juice, etc.).
Story time at the library was all about apples this week with Master Gardeners Jess Hines, Revonda Gilbert and Norma Bozenmayer joining children’s librarian Sam Edmundson leading a program on apples. It included reading about apples, learning apple parts and making apple art. The program ended with eating apples and drinking apple juice. We are so lucky we can grow apples in Patrick County and have wonderful orchards to buy fresh apples to enjoy.
