Patrick County has endured many changes in its available heath care of the years, including the loss of many doctors and a hospital. One bright light has shown through the darkness: Dr. Richard Cole and his dedication to the health care of Patrick County residents. Last Thursday the Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group honored Dr. Cole with a plaque recognizing his years of service and dedication to the area. Terri Birkett, a longtime friend, presented the plaque. Astrid Cole, RN, was also recognized as a beacon of strength behind her husband as he worked hard for this county.
