Parker James Martin, born on Friday, December 23, 1988, in Martinsville, Virginia, brought joy into the lives of his family from the very beginning. He was welcomed home on a Christmas day by his best friend and big brother, Austin. Parker grew up on Moore Mountain in Moravian Falls, North Carolina with the outdoors as his playground. Countless days were filled with adventures in the woods and by the creek, where he demonstrated compassion for orphaned birds, strays, and wildlife.
Following his high school graduation, Parker’s unwavering commitment to service drove him to enlist in the United States Army Reserves. Continuing his education, Parker completed his studies at Wilkes Community College and further honed his skills at Google’s School for Developers. Parker’s proficiency in computer programming was showcased through the creation of numerous websites for clients and the flourishing of his own online retail businesses. Beyond the digital realm, Parker was a published author, his creative spirit touching the lives of many. Finding joy in the outdoors, he also dedicated a part of his life to working as a farmer.
Above all, Parker was known for his unwavering loyalty and commitment to those he loved. A man of his word, he never broke a promise. His most profound relationship was with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, having accepted Christ into his life as a young man and subsequently being baptized into the Baptist faith. Parker’s deep faith was a guiding force in his life. He found solace in Christ’s love, and the unwavering love and commitment of his family.
On December 18, 2023, Parker passed into eternity, leaving behind a legacy that spanned 12,778 days. Left to cherish his memory are his grieving parents, Heather Martin Leatherman and her husband Brian of Moravian Falls, as well as his father Roger Martin (Monica) from Walnut Cove, NC. Parker leaves behind his devoted brothers, Austin Martin (Sarah) and Spencer Leatherman, both from Moravian Falls, NC, and his sisters, Morgan Martin from Hickory, NC, and Jordan Leatherman-Martin (Garrett) and Alexandria Leatherman from the family home.
