A Miraculous Homecoming

Lauren Worley returned to her home in Patrick County Friday, nearly two months to the day after she suffered severe, life-threatening injuries in a Dec. 16 car crash. Her boyfriend, Micah Underwood, of Floyd, also was injured in the crash that allegedly was caused by a drunk driver. 

First responder escorts from the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office and the Patrick Springs Volunteer Fire Department led the entourage that included Lauren, a Patrick County High School senior, and her parents, Chris and Mandy Worley, to their Woolwine home. 

Spectators gathered in several areas along the route in celebration, including PCHS students who held banners and signs of welcome. Elementary school students also participated in a range of activities to welcome the family.
