Aaron Silas Cannaday, 95, of Martinsville, died Saturday, August 6, 2016.\r\nHe was born in Patrick County on June 25, 1921, and was a son of the late Stephen Cannaday and Clara Turner. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis E. Cannaday Sr.; and brothers James, Riley and John Cannaday.\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Christine LaPrade Cannaday; sisters, Josephine Ferguson, Hester Wilson and Mary Hodges; brothers, Paul and Victor Cannaday; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.\r\nHe was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.\r\nThe funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Community Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be at Roselawn Burial Park.\r\nArrangements are by Community Funeral Services, Ridgeway.
