Aaron Silas Cannaday, 95, of Martinsville, died Saturday, August 6, 2016.
He was born in Patrick County on June 25, 1921, and was a son of the late Stephen Cannaday and Clara Turner. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis E. Cannaday Sr.; and brothers James, Riley and John Cannaday.
He is survived by his wife, Christine LaPrade Cannaday; sisters, Josephine Ferguson, Hester Wilson and Mary Hodges; brothers, Paul and Victor Cannaday; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Community Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
