Aileen Adams Handy, 87, of Bassett, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Patrick County.
She was born in Patrick County on October 30, 1928, and was a daughter of the late Emmett Adams and the late Posie Joyce Adams. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Adams, Roy Adams, Oscar Adams and Irvin Adams; and sisters, Christine Koger and Betty Clark
She retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 32 years of service. She was active with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile and was a very active member of Blackberry Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, James Handy; sons, Samuel Adams and Keith Adams and wife Linda; daughter, Wanda Miller; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Stone, Brenda Bishop, Irene Philpott, Nina Spencer, and Louise Campbell.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Blackberry Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Kieselbach officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Blackberry Baptist Church cemetery.
