By Rev. Junior W. Wimbush, pastor

Antioch Christian Church (D.O.C.)

Once we were dead, doomed forever because of our many sins. We used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the heart of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature.

We were born with an evil nature, and we were under God’s anger just like everyone else. However, God is so rich in mercy, and because he loved us so very much that even while we were dead because of our sin, He gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God’s special favor that we have been saved. Aren’t you grateful that he raised us from the dead along with Christ?

We are seated with God in the heavenly realms – all because we are one with Christ Jesus. In the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 2, Verse 7 (NLT) “So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.”

God made us, Believers, alive. He raised us up and seated us with Christ that we may witness His grace generation after generation after generation. Verses 8 and 9, “God saved you by his grace when you believed.  And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” It is a gift of God! I don’t know about you, but I get excited when I receive a gift. How much more special is it that the gift is from God! One of God’s purposes in saving us is to show the world the magnitude of His grace towards us all. He has created us in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34:3 (KJV). I am alive today; you are alive today because of the grace of God!
