Jacob Goad is pictured on a motorcycle. He died in a March 25 crash.

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday resulted in the death of one Ararat man, and charges filed against another, according to a release from the Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred March 25, at 6:43 p.m. on Virginia 677, two-tenths of a mile south of Virginia 672 in Patrick County.

A 2018 Nissan Rogue was traveling south on Virginia 677 when the vehicle crossed the center

line. A 1999 Harley Davidson was struck, according to the release.

The Harley Davidson was driven by Jacob Lehue Goad, 30, of Ararat. Goad was wearing a helmet, according to the release.

Goad died at the scene.

The Nissan was operated by Joshua Ray, 35, also of Ararat, the release stated.

Ray was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured, according to the release.

Ray was charged with driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter in connection with the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police Senior Trooper K.D. Mabe.
