The Apple Dumpling 5k is scheduled to be held at 8 a.m. on Oct. 19.
Participants are raising funds as part of a fundraising event for the Dan River Basin Association. Proceeds are earmarked to help improve trails.
Rebecca Adcock, director of the Chamber of Commerce, said that participation was up this year, and she is excited to see the Stuart Elementary Running Club participating.
Adcock noted that folks may have seen the club members training around town for the past few weeks, all in preparation of the event.
Other attractions at the festival in Downtown Stuart are music by Jason Harris and friends; Warren, Bodle, and Allen; Marcie Horne. Musicians will take to the stage at 10 a.m. and perform until 3 p.m.
Craft vendors and games will also be onsite to offer wares and good times for festival-goers.
Those interested in participating can register the day of the event by arriving an hour early or by calling the Chamber of Commerce at (276) 694-6012.
More information about the event can be found on the chamber’s Facebook page.
