Janice Marshall, 70, is being held without bond in the Patrick County Jail in connection with an alleged stabbing incident in Ararat.

An Ararat woman has been charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, according to a Thursday release from Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

On January 18 around 9:35 a.m., deputies responded to 2355 Willis Gap Road regarding a call of a woman attempting to stab a man.

Upon arrival, Patrick County Sheriff’s Sgt. Winfred Hill and Lt. Dustin Foley found Janice Marshall, 70, and Benton Hall, 58, in the residence.

Evidence obtained during the investigation led deputies to charge Marshall.

A knife was collected at the scene.

Smith alleged an attempt was made to stab Hall, and the suspect allegedly said she “wished she had killed him.”

Hall did not suffer any significant injuries.

Marshall is being held without bond in the Patrick County Jail.
