I watched football today and my team lost. I guess that gives me the right to go out and destroy property that belongs to someone else, loot, steal, and throw a wild fit. Then I will receive coloring books, crayons, and play dough to calm my frustrations.
That is the mentality that has been employed by some of those on the losing side of our recent presidential election.
Last Friday evening a woman with two children in the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light in Greenville, N.C., when three individuals saw a bumper sticker they didn’t like. They charged her vehicle and broke the side window by her children.
Our constitution provides for many freedoms beyond any other nation—BUT—one person’s freedom ends where another person’s freedom begins. We have become a nation of “wants and gimmes” but God forbid that we advocate try working for something. We want to riot, condone every wild act, shame the national anthem, burn the flag and take no responsibility for our actions.
Remember people burning their draft cards years ago? I’ll wager you never saw or heard of anyone burning their welfare check to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with country or government. I am all for sharing our great nation with others, but I want you to respect it and the way of life our forefathers set down. Many have given their lives that we might enjoy what we have today. Try being a solution to the problem instead of being the problem.
Remember J.F.K.’s advice: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country.” If you don’t respect and love the USA as I do, feel free to leave and don’t come back. I was an American before the election, I was an American during the election, and God willing, I will be an American until I die. A 33 year veteran and a patriot
